New Year's Eve

Well 2007 is coming to an end and 2008 will be beginning in about an hour EST.

It's been a pretty eventful year with all the weddings and the baby to come news.

My husband, son and I are now home in our new PJs (tradition) and have gone through all the rituals for the new year:

1. Blessing all the corners of our home with Holy Water
2. Putting 12 different round fruits on the table
3. Getting the 12 grapes for each person ready to eat
4. Spread out some coins at the entrance of our home
5. Have the money ready to hold in our hands at the stroke of midnight

I think that about covers it. Now we are just hanging around waiting for the new year to come so that we can get some shut eye.

Earlier we went out to dinner at Steak and Ale. We always make reservations because it can get crazy. As always, we stuffed ourselves to the limit. This time my son went with us to the salad bar and had his own plate to bring back to the table (raisins and beets).

Well, this is my last post for 2007. See you in 2008!!!!!!!!

Days after Christmas

Well Christmas has come and gone. So sad, I do love the holidays even though they drive me crazy at times.

I was finally able to get my apartment into some shape. It feels really great to see the apartment all nicely done. There is still work to do but at least it's getting done.

My husband and I have been able to set up my son's toddler bed in his room. Although there is some work to do in his bed, at least we are now able to walk into his room. His bed is all done up in the Disney movie Cars theme. He chose which character to put on is bed. We are still having trouble getting him to willingly sleep on the bed. What we do is get him to fall asleep in the living room and then we move him into his bed. My son sleeps all night in it and wakes up in the morning calling for his milk. Not bad. At least my husband and I are getting some quality time together :).

On Christmas Eve, we all got ready to go over my cousin's place where the family was getting together. I spent most of the day in the kitchen baking and doing some cooking. I made oatmeal raisin cookies for Santa, apparently Santa likes oatmeal raisin cookies. I've also made some sugar cookie cutouts. My son enjoyed cutting them out. Brownies were also on the menu and I made two batches. I love to make desserts.

On Christmas morning, my husband, son and I opened our gifts to each other. My son had a good time opening all his presents. My husband gave me purse, two soup bowls from my china, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie and a straightening iron. Love them. Afterwards, we all readied ourselves to go over my mother-in-law's place. We managed to get there early and my son was in a good mood, for once. We did our secret Santa and my husband surprised me with being my secret Santa. He gave me a beautiful necklace with a circle of diamond pendant. I've always wanted it but I didn't want to ask my husband for it. I loved it. I had to wear it then and there around my neck.

We got home and went to bed we were so tired. The next day my parents and sister's family came over for dinner. We had a great time. I was able to do a dinner party out of it. The clean up wasn't so bad with the help of my husband and sister.

We are now just vegetating here around the house. My son has no idea what to play with at any time. He's like a butterfly who keeps going from one toy to the next. Well this is it for now til the next time. Have a Happy New Year.

One week to go....

Christmas is almost here. I can't wait to see my son's face when he sees his Christmas present from my husband and I.

On Saturday, we went to take our family pictures at Kiddie Kandids. Jack had some really great pictures. On Sunday, I wrote out all the Christmas cards and got them ready to be mailed out on Monday. My husband, darling that he is, took them to the post office and bought some stamps for the cards.

I'm almost done with all my shopping. I'm planning to do some shopping for myself next. I need to find a Christmas outfit for m son not to mention my own Christmas gift :).

It's been a while....

So here's an update on what I've been up to since my last blog.

May/June
All weddings have occurred and the brides were beautiful in their wedding dresses. My sister and sister-in-law made beautiful brides on their wedding days. My son was the ring bearer for each wedding and he looked so cute in his tux. My husband looked great, too. I'd marry him all over again :).

July
My husband and I along with the family celebrated my son's 2nd birthday. Can you believe it? Terrible Twos here we go!

Jay, Jack and I went on a week long trip to Florida! Yes, we went to Disneyworld, Seaworld, and Islands of Adventure. We had a wonderful time.

August
Our family is growing by one. Yes, I'm pregnant. My due date is April 15, 2008. We are ecstatic. We didn't tell the rest of the family till October as we like to wait 3 months before saying anything. It was very difficult to hide since I had morning sickness which seemed to strike in the evening.

Around the same time I found out my cousin's wife, my sister-in -law and my sister were all pregnant, too. So far we know two of the babies to be are boys. I'm not finding out and I don't think my sister will find out.

September-December
We've just been preparing for the new baby. We are getting the apartment ready for Christmas. I'm also working on my Christmas knits and crochet projects. Not going as fast as I had hoped.

Well that's the update so far....I hope to keep this up to date.

One down...

Finally the day arrived, the sun was fighting to shine and won, the birds were singing, and at 7:30AM the Bride to be was getting ready. At 4PM, family and friends gathered at the church and the cameras were a buzzing as the my sister came down the aisle in her wedding finery on the arm of my father. She was so beautiful. Yes, folks, my sister married on Saturday to a wonderful man. They are now on their honeymoon.

The reception was awesome. The dance floor was only empty when the food was being served and for the cake. Everyone had a great time. My son actually took me out to dance, too, and he is not even 2 years old. Then I spent sometime in the bridal suite because Jack was sleeping. My mother/father-in-law were happy to sit in the bridal suite watching over Jack. I guess the roles will be reversed when my sister-in-law gets married and my parents are watching over Jack.

I had a wonderful Mother' day. My husband and son took me to a nice restaurant for brunch. I was sooooo stuffed but the food was awesome. After brunch I dropped off my husband because the poor guy was so miserable with his allergies. Later, I took my mom out for dinner.

Now, I have at least two weeks to relax before my sister-in-law's wedding. Time to get some knitting done other than at midnight. I promise to post some of my projects.

Where's my bottle?

So I had the bright idea of having my son say bye bye to his bottles and on to the sippy cup. Easier said than done. I spent all day Friday just putting up with my son and his temper tantrums. He would throw one if I didn't give into him whether it was to get chocolate or let him play with the water.

I felt like I was going nuts. I eventually just sat down and started knitting. I made a lot of progress on the scarf I'm knitting. I'm almost done with one skein.

My son finally has come to accept the sippy cup for milk instead of just water or juice.

till next time.

What a weekend

It's been a busy weekend for me. On Saturday, I spent the morning at the salon getting a much needed hair cut. I'm very happy with my new do. Then I went baby shopping with a 22 month old for some much needed summer clothes, pampers, and neccessities. Afterwards, I dropped off my son at my parents so I could get ready for the night festivities.

When I finally arrived home I managed to get in about 2 hours of knitting my scarf and then I went to get ready. I was going to my sister's bachelorette party. She's getting married on May 12th. It was a lot of fun but I got home later than expected....4AM!!!!.

On Sunday, the family was up by 7:45AM...(yes, we were). "Why?" you are saying. Well, we had a planned outing to Great Adventure and well since the tickets were prepaid I could only use them on Sunday. We were actually not tired at all much during the day and then towards the end of the day it hits. We are exhausted. Too tired to get some night time knitting done.

I hope to soon post some of the projects I've done for both Crochet and Knitting.

I'm New At This....

...so bear with me.

Hello all reading this blog. I'm a long time crocheter and newbie at knitting. I'm addicted to both and have a project for each at any given time.

My mom taught me to crochet when I was young and have been crocheting ever since that day. Now there's a woman who never met a yarn she didn't like. As for knitting, I took a beginner's class in knitting and I became hooked. I'm not an expert by any means but I hope to make it to the intermediate.

Well til next time.
